Create one focal point

A hero prop gives the audience a place to look. Leave some calm space around it so the main idea reads from far away.

Use color for feeling

Warm gold can feel bright and welcoming. Cooler violet and aqua can make the same stage feel dreamy, quiet, or mysterious.

Build in layers

Backdrop, performer, stage, and effects sit at different depths. Layering them carefully turns a flat picture into a believable world.
